John Muir Trail Thousand Island Lake to Deer Creek

Watch My Backpacking The John Muir Trail Documentary!

Last year, I walked 210 miles with 80,000ft of elevation change from Yosemite Valley to the 14,505ft summit of Mt. Whitney.  It was an incredible journey through the Sierra Nevada mountains, and an adventure I’ll never forget. I’ve created day by day accounts of this adventure on this blog, and am now ready to share the documentary video I put together as a compliment to those posts. I hope you enjoy watching this, and if you do, make sure to hit ‘thumbs up’ and leave me a comment here or on YouTube. Happy trails everyone!

Ausangate Trek Day 4 and 5

The Ausangate Trek is a 43 mile backpacking trip that runs through one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Andes. Starting at 12,000ft and reaching high passes close to 17,000ft, the Ausangate Trek reaches some seriously high elevations. Along the way, you’ll pass by small villages, glacial lakes, towering snow capped peaks, and herds of alpacas. The Ausangate Trek is an adventure of a life time, and I’ll be covering all of the details in this guide.

May is the month that usually kicks off the SoCal hiking season, with high peaks becoming clear of ice and snow. Due to the drought, many of the trails under 10,000 ft have been bone dry since February. Needless to say, I was really excited when a cold storm blew through this week and dropped a nice coating of snow and rain over our mountains that were in desperate need of such precipitation.
