My Top 10 Picks for REI’s Biggest Gear Sale of the Year

| | ,

Memorial Day is usually a time for excitement in the outdoor community, with days growing longer, weather getting warmer, and mountain trails thawing out. Memorial Day weekend is also a time when outdoor retailers like REI hold some of their biggest gear sales of the year to kickstart the summer. As everyone is well aware, this Memorial Day is going to be unlike any in living memory.

Due to Covid-19, many people have been stuck inside for the past few months, and in most states, are just getting the go-ahead to freely venture outside for recreation around other people. Needless to say, there is a lot of apprehension and caution around outdoor recreation at the moment, with so much still unknown about how the Covid-19 virus spreads. I’m looking forward to the day when we can all once again venture outside and share the trails to our favorite views and mountain peaks.

Even though a few non-essential stores have been allowed to open her here in Southern California, REI’s brick-and-mortar locations are still closed. That means all of REI’s best sales of the year will be online. Below, you will find my top 10 picks for gear that will help you get back outside as our lives hopefully start going back to normal.
