My Salkantay Trek Posts Are Now Featured On ‘Come To Peru’

Two years ago I visited Cuzco and embarked on the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. This is one of my most popular trek pages on the blog. Many visit Peru with hopes of seeing Machu Picchu, and those that like to trek have their sites set on the Inca Trail. The problem with the Inca Trail is that it requires a permit, and that permit tends to sell out fast. As tourism has increased to Cuzco with Machu Picchu consistently ranking high as a “must see” destination, travelers are looking for alternative routes to trek when the Inca Trail is no longer an option. In my opinion, there is none better than the Salkantay Trek.

A short while ago, I was contacted by a gentleman named Jose, who is the co-founder of Come to Peru. Come to Peru is a Peruvian organization whose mission is to attract and promote tourism in Peru. They have a beautiful website, and do an incredible job promoting Peruvian tourism via their social media channels. Take a look at their photos here on Instagram! After messaging with Jose, he asked if he could translate my Salkantay Trek articles to Spanish so that they can reach a larger audience. The first translation for Day 1 is now available and live on the Come to Peru website, and I couldn’t be more excited.

The country of Peru holds a special place in my heart, and I’m especially fond of the people I met in the Ausangate area. I hope that these posts and their translated versions draw as much tourism as possible to the incredible people of this beautiful country. I really admire all of the hard work Jose and his team are putting in to shine a spotlight on all that Peru has to offer. I’ve travelled to a lot of places over the past few years, and when people ask me which country I’d like to revisit, I instantly say “Peru!”. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to do it, but attending the Qoyllur Rit’i festival is at the very top of my travel bucket list.
