Day 1: St Jean Pied du Port to Roncesvalles

Day number one is in the books. It was a great climb into the Pyrenees and back down the other side. I took the tougher “Napoleon Route” where the little man had his troops march years ago. The scenery was nothing short of spectacular. Celestial fog, rolling green hillsides, sheep, goats, cows, and horses grazing about made this an opening day to remember.

I met a lot of really great people in my albergue last night. The four Dutch women who voluntarily run the place were charming a made everyone feel at home.

  1. Long, long ago I wanted to walk the Camino. Perhaps it will come back to my bucket list again. For now I will drink in your gorgeous photos and posts. Buen camino indeed.
